About our Honoree:
       SHEF's 2010 honoree is Mike
Pastore, a lifelong resident of Huntington
whose adult life has been devoted to
serving and protecting the people of his
community. A 1984 graduate of Walt
Whitman High School, Mike and his wife
Michele (WWHS 1986) have two
children-Ashley, a junior at Walt Whitman
High School, and Vincent, a fifth-grader
at Birchwood Intermediate school.
      After joining the Huntington Manor
Fire Department in 1986, Mike rose
through the ranks to become a lieutenant
in 1992 and then Chief of the Department
in 2002 and 2003. Mike then became Fire
Commissioner in 2005, a position to
which he was re-elected for a second
term in 2009.
      Beyond this, Mike Pastore also
works in the town's meter department and
acts as the Town of Huntington's Disaster
Coordinator, a position assigned to him by
Supervisor Frank Petrone. In the little
spare time he has, Mike can be found at
various schools in the district where his
friendly face and gracious manner belie
his role as security person.
It is altogether fitting that SHEF
recognizes and celebrates the
contributions of Michael Pastore, a man
to whom South Huntington can point with
pride and gratitude.
